The Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati and its affiliate (Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio, LLC) seek a full-time paralegal to work in Legal Aid’s Income, Work, and Health practice group. The Paralegal/CWIC will represent clients in administrative cases involving the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the Ohio Department of Medicaid, Social Security, and other governmental agencies. This position requires a person who is, or who can become, a Certified Work Incentive Counselor (CWIC) to work on a Work Incentive Planning and Assistance (WIPA) project funded by the Social Security Administration. As required by the grant, the successful applicant must be able to pass a federal background check, and complete the certification process. Preference will be given to candidates who already have their certification, and/or a background in working with people with disabilities.
Minimum education requirement is a Bachelor’s degree. Prior experience as a paralegal or as an employee/advocate in a social service setting is preferred. In addition, successful candidates will have:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
The demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
Excellent organizational skills
