Summary of Responsibilities:

Provides research, analytical support and facilitates commercial mortgage loan procurement for Eagle Realty Group and affiliates.  Coordinates third-party due diligence investigations and reviews appraisals for new loan closings.  Assists Real Estate Closing Specialist with draw process/funding for construction loans, developments and holdbacks related to loans and purchase agreements.  With the supervision of the Mortgage Loan Director, makes an established range of decisions that contribute to new loan and portfolio recommendations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs necessary underwriting in connection with new loan offerings and loan extensions.
  • Assists in negotiating terms and conditions of loan application/commitment documents related to loan procurement.  Reviews appraisals for compliance with commitment requirements.
  • Interacts on a daily basis with correspondents, borrowers, legal representatives of borrowers and various internal committees of the Western & Southern Financial Group (and/or independent investment customers) including, but not limited to, Eagle investment professionals and Mortgage Loan Servicing.
  • Develops working relationships with borrowers/developers, appraisers, contractors and other real estate professionals in connection with administering mortgage loan transactions.
  • Provides reports/communication for information exchanged in surveys shared within industry peer groups
  • Assists with processing funding requests for construction draws and holdbacks, including review of lien waivers, supporting invoices, updated budget reports and field inspections.
  • Assists in portfolio management issues, including prepayments, assumptions and constructions issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Selection Criteria:

  • Minimum of two years experience (Financial Analysis, Commercial Lending, Servicing Administration, Asset Management, and/or Property Management) with a working knowledge of income property credit analysis, and/or loan closing documentation.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to successfully interpret and communicate business needs between internal system groups and external vendors in a clear, focused and concise manner.  This includes strong telephone communication and etiquette skills.  Expected to provide examples of written work such as correspondence, reports and projections.
  • Proven experience coordinating multiple projects/assignments simultaneously, and completing assigned tasks accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to receive, organize and manage large amounts of diverse information and documentation.  Must cite examples of organization skills.
  • Proven examples from work experience on identifying complex problems, quantifying the problems and providing creative resolutions to solve.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively within a team.  Provide examples from work experience of going above and beyond the call of duty to assist team members.
  • Proven experience working in a customer-oriented field, effectively articulating complex technical information, via phone/written communications, demonstrating the ability to deliver an adverse response in a positive manner.
  • Proven flexibility when faced with changes in work procedures; this includes providing examples of grasping and initiating new concepts in the workplace.  Must provide examples from work experience demonstrating flexibility to meet department and customer needs.
  • Demonstrated aptitude to acquire knowledge through self-study training to run real estate analytical programs using Excel or Argus software.
  • Proven aptitude to gain essential knowledge to review P&L statements on properties, leases, appraisals, inspection reports, financial statements, environmental reports, general contracts and monitoring of construction loans.
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to cultivate/acquire a unique combination of marketing, financial analysis, credit underwriting, real estate valuation, interpersonal, customer service, communication, documentation review and negotiation skills.

Work Setting:

  • Works in an office setting that frequently requires being in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
  • Performs frequent movement of wrists, hands and fingers for continuous computer work.

Educational Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business (i.e. Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Business Administration, etc.).

Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Outlook Express, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Working knowledge of PC based real estate analytical programs such as ARGUS and Excel is preferred.

Certifications & Licenses  (i.e., Series 6 and 63, CPA, etc):

  • None required

Position Demands:

  • Willingness to travel (2-3 days/month).  Typical travel includes social interaction and networking which extends into late evening hours.
  • Extended hours may be required when cyclical market conditions present a high volume of business opportunities.  Customer service demands can require applicant to handle multiple transactions simultaneously without compromising attention to analytical detail.
