GCHRA HR Academy- A Strategic Plan to Hire, Onboard & Retain Military Veterans - February 14, 2013

Please join the Diversity and Workforce Readiness Committees as they team up to present a three hour program on Thursday, February 14, 2013 focused on the advantages of hiring military veterans. The program will begin by providing the attendees a Military 101 course and then we will dive into how to overcome the obstacles and myths of hiring veterans.

The program will also include discussions and resources for attendees to develop their military recruiting strategy. There will be representatives from local companies   sharing their success stories and the challenges they overcame while sourcing, hiring, onboarding, and retaining military veterans.

Panelist include:    

  • Robert Miller – Bob is the Southern Ohio Region Employer Outreach Coordinator for the Employer Support of the National Guard and Reserve in addition to his work as an Executive Coach. He is a retired Navy and Navy Reserve pilot and has also retired from a long career in HR at Procter and Gamble.    
  • Colonel (RET) Bob Labadie – Bob is a retired military professional with experience as the Director of Veterans Affairs for the State of Ohio, Ohio Chairman of the ESGR Committee, and senior consultant to the National Guard Bureau (NGB) Office of Strategic Planning and Future Initiatives (J5).    
  • Matthew Luther – Matt is the National Military Recruiting Director for the Cintas Corporation. He achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer Four and retired from the Ohio National Guard this past October after twenty years of service as a helicopter Instructor Pilot.    
  • Joseph Vroman – Joe is a retired Army Military Policeman with an extensive military recruiting background. He has experience in both 3rd party recruiting firms and a fortune 100 corporation running their military recruiting program. He is currently the Director of Military Recruiting for Macy's Inc. HQ'd in downtown Cincinnati.    
  • Josh Galle – Josh served 2 combat tours in Iraq with the United States Marine Corps as a Non Commissioned Officer. Currently he is on the Talent Acquisition team at Humana focused on the Veteran and Military Spouse Hiring Initiative.    
  • Kevin Stakelum – Kevin is the Talent Acquisition Director for Humana Inc. Kevin is also the leader of the company’s Veterans Hiring Initiative that is responsible for hiring 1,000 veterans and their spouses by the end of   2013. He is a veteran of the Louisiana and Mississippi Army National Guard.    
  • Jeanne Buse – National Account Executive for RecruitMilitary
